Cancer
Program Development
Through funding from the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention, NCFH has developed a comprehensive cancer-training
curriculum to train promotoras and health educators to deliver
cancer education messages to the farmworker community. This
bilingual comprehensive cancer-training curriculum is a user-friendly
tool and will provide promotoras and/or health educators with
the basic information and knowledge of the most commonly found
cancers.
The curriculum components include:
The curriculum includes different teaching and reinforcement
activities using an interactive learning process to teach
communication and education techniques as well as guidelines
about specific messages to communicate to the community.
The curriculum is designed to assist migrant and community
health centers or other organizations currently training or
interested in training promotoras or health educators. Copies
of the curriculum are available through the NCFH Resource
