Oral Health

Dental disease is one of the most common and preventable ailments. However, statistics show that a large percentage of migrant workers and their children do not seek regular dental care and suffer from complications linked to dental carries or gum disease. Research indicates that dental work is viewed as an expensive service as many farmworkers lack the insurance to cover costs. Another, more common belief is that regular dental visits are not necessary unless someone is experiencing pain. While a visit to the dentist is a primary key to good dental health, a healthy diet and a regular oral health care routine can prevent invasive and expensive dental procedures that can tax a limited budget.
