CALL FOR HEALTH

GIVE THE GIFT OF HEALTH

“We turned to the Call for Health (CFH) program for assistance in obtaining medications for a 5 year old patient suffering from epileptic seizures. Within 48 hours of our call, the boy had the medications he had earlier been waiting for over a month to receive. On behalf of one of our youngest and most vulnerable patients, I wish to express my most sincere and deepest gratitude for your immediate attention to his health care needs.” Health Center Staff, Klamath Falls, Oregon

GIVE NOW

“The History of America’s Farmworkers is the tale of an entire class of laborers who have been repeatedly denied access to our nation’s promise that hard work will be justly rewarded.”  With These Hands by Daniel Rothenberg

America’s Farmworkers: There are approximately 3-5 million migrant and seasonal farmworkers in the United States. They are the backbone of the American agricultural industry and their work impacts almost every state in the nation. However, almost three quarters of this work force earn less than $10,000 annually and their health status is at the same standard of most Third World Nations.Over 85% of the fruits and vegetables produced in this country are hand harvested and/or cultivated by farmworkers. The faces of farmworkers include men, women, children and the elderly.

Call for Health Program: The Call for Health (CFH) Program serves this workforce in three primary areas:

  • Provides a Health Information and Referral service national toll free line (800) 377-9968.
  • Develops collaborative relationships with health care providers who are willing to provide health care.
  • Secures health care for people in need of reduced rates for specific health services and/or may supplement payment for services.

Examples of How You Can Help: The Gift of Health is a unique program that allows an opportunity for you to invest in the health of America’s farmworkers.  100% of your donation goes to provide health care services for adults and children. All contributors will be recognized in our bi-monthly newsletter The Migrant Health Newsline, unless otherwise instructed.
