New Factsheets Now Available!
NCFH has created two new factsheets on farmworker health:
Hispanics and foreign-born persons in the U.S. experience higher rates of tuberculosis (TB) than non-Hispanic Whites, and farmworkers continue to suffer from a high burden of TB. The factsheet covers the basic etiology and epidemiology of tuberculosis in the U.S., and provides an updated summary of research regarding key risk factors and subpopulations of farmworkers at a high-risk for developing active TB.
Over 400,000 farmworkers received dental services at health centers in 2011, and many experience high rates of untreated dental caries and other oral health conditions. This factsheet includes information on the basic epidemiology of oral disease in underserved populations, as well as disparities, risk factors, and barriers to care experienced by U.S. farmworkers.
