Overview of the National Center for
Farmworker Health
National Center for Farmworker Health, Inc. is a private,
not-for-profit corporation located in Buda, Texas --
about 20 miles south of Austin, the state's capitol.
NCFH
Goal
NCFH's goal is to enhance the capacity of Migrant Health
Centers (MHCs) to provide access to care and eliminate
the health status disparities between farmworkers and
the general population in the U.S.
NCFH has the following objectives in support of their
goal and mission:
- Leadership Development and Training:
To build a multi-disciplinary training center which
will deliver a comprehensive set of leadership development
opportunities to current and potential migrant and
community health center employees, in order to strengthen
the network of providers of care to the farmworker
population nationwide.
- Migrant Health Network Support: To
provide a comprehensive set of information services
to the network of migrant and community health centers
that will enhance their ability to provide primary
care services to migrant and seasonal farmworkers,
thus increasing access to care for the population.
- Formalize and Expand the Migrant Health
Network: To formalize and expand the network of migrant
and community health centers and other providers to
increase access to primary and specialty care for
farmworkers as they work and travel across the country.
