Promoviendo la Salud:
A Guide to Spanish Language Health Education Resources
Educational resources on this webpage are categorized by health topic and divided into two sections:
Educational resources for lay health promoters – these health information resources in English and Spanish can be used to provide basic training on the selected health topic to meet the educational training needs of Community Health Workers (CHW). The information can be used as presented in the resource or modified or adapted to meet the specific learning needs of the CHW audience and the time frame allotted to training. These resources have been reviewed and selected to serve as the educational foundation for staff training, and will fulfill the basic educational requirements needed by lay health personnel to provide health education outreach to community members.
Educational resources for community members - these health information resources in English and Spanish can be used by the CHW to accompany their outreach and education and be distributed to community members/patients. These patient education resources were selected based on several criteria, including language, literacy level, clarity of messages, effective use of visuals, emphasis on behavioral change and prevention, and action oriented.
To utilize this webpage, first select the educational resource(s) from Section 1 to assist in developing or supplementing a basic CHW training; then select one or more of the resources from Section 2 to be distributed to community members by the CHW during their outreach/educational sessions.
