Our Story
The Ag Worker Access Campaign was launched in 2015 as a joint effort by the National Center for Farmworker Health (NCFH) and the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC).  We, along with health center staff and other Ag worker advocates knew that more could be done to increase access to quality healthcare for America's Agricultural workers and their families.  The result was the Ag Worker Access 2020 Campaign, which has since been renamed the Ag Worker Access Campaign.

Ag Worker Access Campaign Task Force

The Campaign Task Force is comprised of representatives of health centers, primary care associations, health center-controlled networks, National Training and Technical Assistance Partners (NTTAP), and other organizations representing education, housing and labor.  In general, the Task Force guides Campaign activities to increase access to care for Agricultural workers by:
  • Identifying challenges
  • Exploring and launching innovation
  • Formulating recommendations
  • Supporting collaboration and coalition building
  • Identifying and disseminating promising practices

Progress to Date

There have been steady increases in the number of Ag workers served in health centers since the Campaign's launch in 2015, with the the 2019 UDS data showing we surpassed our halfway milestone of 1 million Ag workers served. In 2020, there was a decline in the number of Ag workers served likely due to the impacts health centers and Ag workers have experienced because of COVID-19. We are so excited to share that we have once again surpassed our halfway milestone of 1 million Ag workers served as seen in the 2021 UDS data and we are confident in the hard work and determination of health centers across the country that we continue growing from here.

Strategies for Success

We believe the key to our success centers around three main strategies.
Strategy 1:
Take Credit Where Credit is Due
  • Accurately identify and report ALL Ag worker patients being seen in health centers.
Strategy 2:
Open Hearts, Open Doors, Open Access
  • Develop innovative strategies designed to reach more  Ag workers.
  • Develop partnerships & collaborations that will result in increased access to care for Ag workers.
Strategy 3:
Build Capacity to Sustain Growth
  • Ensure sufficient funding is available to support potential growth in services needed for an increase in the number of Ag workers being served.
