ABOUT THEFarmworker Stream Forums Each year, regional farmworker advocates, health and social service providers, policy makers, and other interested individuals gather in a series of three conferences called “stream forums.” One conference is located in each of three loosely-defined migratory streams, representing the flow of agricultural workers up and down the stream as they follow the harvest. The stream forums provide farmworker-specific continuing education to providers of health care and social services in community and migrant health centers, as well as offering a venue for networking among these professionals in the field. The conferences present an opportunity for participants to discuss regional and national trends which affect farmworkers and share successful strategies for addressing farmworker needs. Base funding for the stream forums is provided by the Health Resources and Services Administration, Bureau of Primary Care. Additional funding is received each year from other offices and agencies within the federal government. Conference co-sponsors assist with promotion, conference logistics, and other important tasks, while local hosts provide invaluable contacts and leg work at each conference location. These gatherings of individuals who care for migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their families on a daily basis allows an opportunity to renew our commitment to providing the best possible services for their health and well-being. | | | | | | | | National Farmworker Health Conference May 7-10, 2013 San Diego, CA For more info: www.nachc.com | | | 26th Annual East Coast Migrant Stream Forum Date: TBA Location: TBA For more info: www.ncchca.org | | | 22nd Annual Western Migrant Stream Forum February 20-22, 2013 San Francisco, CA For more info: www.nwrpca.org | | | | | | | | |
