In 2027, NCFH is thrilled to announce that we will be hosting one Agricultural Worker Health Symposium. 
We are excited to bring together professionals from across the country who share a commitment to improving the health and well-being of agricultural worker families.    

The 2027 Agricultural Worker Health Symposium will be a dynamic opportunity to connect, learn, exchange ideas, and build partnerships across disciplines. 

This year’s theme, Juntos Somos Más Fuertes | We Are Stronger Together, reflects the impact of collective action, community resilience, and our shared commitment to continuing to reach, serve, and care for agricultural worker communities during these challenging times.

Whether you work directly with agricultural worker families or contribute to this work through clinical care, community programs, research, outreach, advocacy, or other areas, there will be something for you.  Come ready to make connections, share experiences, explore innovative approaches, and strengthen our collective work on behalf of agricultural worker communities.

What Makes the NCFH Agricultural Worker Health Symposia So Unique?

For more than 50 years, the National Center for Farmworker Health (NCFH) has advanced the health and well-being of agricultural workers. Building on decades of convening the agricultural worker health workforce, the Agricultural Worker Health Symposium brings together health centers, community organizations, researchers, and national partners to strengthen care, share practical solutions, and build lasting connections. The Symposium is a trusted space for professionals serving agricultural workers to learn from one another, identify emerging needs, and strengthen national collaboration.

NCFH bases these Symposium events on three foundational pillars:

In-Depth Learning
Community and Connectedness
Leadership Development

Together, these pillars create opportunities to explore agricultural worker health topics in greater depth, share stories and experiences from the field, and exchange challenges, promising practices, and intervention strategies. The Symposium also provides a space for multidisciplinary collaboration, discussion, and planning, with a focus on applying learning to service delivery and building a unified voice around priority issues affecting agricultural workers and their families.

Who Should Attend?

These events bring together health center staff, community partners, and other professionals who serve agricultural workers and their families. Participants may include clinicians, community health workers, outreach workers, case managers, researchers, advocates, health department staff, health center board members and leadership, as well as other health center staff and representatives from organizations working to improve health outcomes and access to care for agricultural worker communities.

What is the Goal of These Events?

In alignment with NCFH’s mission, our goal for these events is to improve the health and well-being of farmworker families by providing high-quality workforce development training that strengthens the capacity of health centers, advocates, researchers, and other organizations that serve these communities.

We recognize that building upon the important work of our colleagues across the field requires continued investment in developing strong, knowledgeable health leaders. Through these events, we aim to foster the next generation of leaders who will champion efforts to expand access to high-quality health care and social services and improve health outcomes for farmworker families.

NCFH Fall 2025 Agricultural Worker Symposium

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the NCFH Fall Agricultural Worker Health Symposium in Phoenix! We were thrilled to welcome attendees from 19 states across the country for three days of learning, collaboration, and practical strategies to strengthen health access for agricultural workers. From engaging workshops to meaningful connections with fellow attendees, the fall Symposium provided a valuable space to share ideas and highlight effective approaches in the field. 

Promising Practices Award Recipient: Adelante Healthcare 

During the opening session of the Fall Symposium NCFH was proud to recognize Adelante Healthcare as the Fall 2025 Increase Access to Care for Agricultural Workers (IAC) Promising Practices Award recipient. Adelante’s innovative outreach model, leveraging partnerships and hosting mini health fairs during regularly scheduled farm visits, has significantly improved access to care for agricultural worker families in the communities they serve. Their team presented their approach during the Symposium, offering attendees practical insights and real-world strategies to adapt and implement in their own settings.  

The Symposium highlights include:

An Agricultural Worker Learning Experience, featuring an orientation to the local agricultural landscape, a tour of Adelante Healthcare’s comprehensive health center site, and a visit to one of the leading organic growers in the U.S.

An Opening General Session, “Advancing Agricultural Worker Health,” featuring a welcome from the National Center for Farmworker Health, a policy update from the National Association of Community Health Centers, an Arizona Health Center Showcase, and the IAC Promising Practices Award.

Concurrent sessions addressing key topics in agricultural worker health, including community engagement, maternal and child health, the Campo-Sano Agricultural Worker Health App, weather-related risks, healthcare access, oral health and teledentistry, adapting to rapid change, agricultural worker mental health, integrated chronic disease care, patient understanding and quality of care, emergency preparedness, healthcare voucher models, and workforce well-being and retention.

A general session, “From Field to Partnership: Building Sustainable Collaborations for Agricultural Worker Health,” featuring a panel discussion with the Arizona Interagency Farmworkers Coalition and Duncan Family Farms, facilitated by the Arizona Alliance for Community Health Centers.

A Strategy Sharing Session and End-of-Day Facilitated Wrap-Up, providing attendees with an opportunity to reflect on the day and share ideas.

A General Plenary Session, “Insights on Current Farm Labor Trends, Policy, and Challenges,” presented by Michigan State University.

A Cumulative Wall of Wonder available throughout the event, giving attendees an opportunity to share their reflections and insights.

A Strategy Sharing Luncheon and Closing, bringing attendees together to share takeaways and conclude the Symposium

NCFH Spring 2026 Agricultural Worker Symposium

From Field to Community:
Food, Environment, and the Health of Agricultural Workers

The National Center for Farmworker Health (NCFH) extends our sincere appreciation to everyone who joined us for the Spring Agricultural Worker Health Symposium, held April 15-17, 2026 in New Orleans, LA. Your presence, participation, and shared commitment created a dynamic space for learning and connection.

We were thrilled to have brought together more than 150 health center staff, outreach workers, educators, and partners from agricultural worker-serving organizations representing 27 states and territories. Together, we explored our conference theme: From Field to Community: Food, Environment, and the Health of Agricultural Workers.

Event Highlights

Spring Symposium highlights included:

A dynamic offsite learning experience to the AgriAquaculture Center of Excellence, showcasing how innovation and sustainability are shaping the future of food systems and community impact, including a tour of the state’s largest closed-loop aquaponics facility.

Two Intensive sessions offering a deep dive on food for health in agricultural communities and resource development strategies to maintain and expand care for agricultural worker families.

12 interactive trainings focused on key conference areas: Nutrition and Wellbeing, Environmental Impacts on Health, and Access to Care for Agricultural Worker Families.

Engaging general sessions featuring:

A state welcome and health center landscape update from Gerrelda Davis, Executive Director of the Louisiana Primary Care Association, highlighting the impact of LA health centers across the state.

Keynote address by award winning author, 2015 Texas State Poet Laureate, and San Antonio’s first City Poet Laureate, Dr. Carmen Tafolla, whose powerful message grounded our work in storytelling, traditions, and community.

A screening of Did You Guys Eat? / ¿Ya comieron?, a compelling documentary about Michigan’s food and farming communities, followed by a live Q&A with filmmaker and producer, Stephany Slaughter, Alma College, and featured health center staff member, Jesse Costilla, Migrant Services Director, Great Lakes Bay Health Centers.

A New Orleans-Themed Poster Walk highlighting innovation and research in agricultural worker health facilitated by Health Outreach Partners, one of our Symposium planning partners.

A National Policy Update presented by Joe Dunn, Chief Policy Officer, National Association of Community Health Centers

Recognition of our 2025 Increase Access to Care for Agricultural Workers Program Promising Practices award recipient, Columbia Valley Community Health (WA) and six NCFH Scholarship recipients from across the U.S. See more details on these recognition in entries below.

An engaging Closing session featuring a “Wall of Wonder” activity facilitated by NCFH, where attendees had an opportunity to shape future training and technical assistance offerings by reflecting and sharing their thoughts on three questions, 1) What’s working; 2) What’s needed; and 3) What’s next?.
