New World Screwworm (NWS)

The New World Screwworm (NWS) is a type of fly that lays eggs in open wounds of living animals and people. The fly larvae (maggots) feed on flesh, causing pain, other symptoms, and even death.
It affects livestock animals, wildlife, and pets, but it can also lay eggs on humans.
