Bridging the health care gap for MSAWs involves creating health care solutions that are accessible, effective, and responsive to their specific needs. This requires a holistic approach that considers both community level factors and the broader conditions that influence their health and well-being. For this reason, this national Symposium will have two key focus areas.

  • The first will explore factors impacting health, recognizing that challenges beyond the health care system can directly influence health outcomes.
  • The second will focus on topics such as chronic medical conditions, screening tests, and successful service delivery strategies, among others.

Together, these two topics will offer actionable insights for improving access to quality health care. NCFH invites discussion of innovative strategies, resources, and technologies aimed at mitigating these challenges.

The Symposium will offer valuable insights for staff of health centers and other MSAW serving organizations including outreach and front line staff, Community Health Workers (CHWs), clinicians, and administrators, who are committed to improving MSAW health. We are excited to be integrating an Immersive Experience within the local agricultural community, providing firsthand knowledge for meeting the diverse needs of MSAWs and allowing participants to see the state’s agricultural health landscape.

What is a Symposium?

NCFH bases these Symposia events on three foundational pillars: 1) In Depth Learning; 2) Community and Connectedness; and 3) Leadership Development. These pillars encompass critical elements such as providing a deeper dive into MSAW health-specific topics, intentional opportunities for stories from the field, sharing of challenges, promising practices and strategies, and a space for multi-disciplinary collaboration, discussion, and planning for deliberate, focused application to service delivery practices, as well as a unified voice to share perspectives on priority topics.

What is the goal of these events?

In alignment with NCFH’s mission, our goal for these training events is to improve the health of MSAW families by providing the best possible workforce development training to strengthen the ability of health centers and other organizations to serve them. We know that to continue building upon the work of our colleagues across the U.S through the Ag Worker Access Campaign, we must foster the development of health leaders that will continue the charge of increasing access to quality health care services for MSAW families.

Who are we partnering with?

NCFH is looking forward to working with our partners at the BPHC, Primary Care Associations, the Farmworker Health Network, and health centers nationwide as we move forward with this new endeavor!
