Vivian Newdick, PhD, is the project lead for the NCFH’s Quality of Life Study with Immigrants in Austin and Travis County, Texas, funded by the City of Austin.
Vivian or “Viv” holds her Masters in Linguistic and Doctorate in Sociocultural Anthropology from the University of Texas at Austin and received her AB from Harvard College.
Vivian focuses on developing tools to amplify marginalized voices for holistic health and wellbeing. As a researcher and public health professional she has created methods, trainings, and presentations for language access and linguistic diversity; conducted participatory fieldwork and published with speakers of indigenous languages; and strategic plans and evaluation tools for municipal language access. Vivian lived over eight years in Chiapas, Mexico and is conversational in Maya-Tseltal.
