In recognition of the first anniversary of the death of Cesar Chavez, the artwork depicts a group of farmworkers picking grapes and packing them into union crates in an early morning vineyard setting. The message encompasses the Movement’s struggle to bring national attention to the issues surrounding farm labor. The presence of the United Farm Workers of America logo on the crates symbolizes Chavez’ successful negotiation of farm labor contracts.
